2024 UPDATE:

Frances took part in an online discussion of her 2020 novel THE COMPANY WE KEEP, sponsored by a HOSPICE group in Peterborough, Ontario.

In June, Frances was one of three final judges for the Short Fiction Award, sponsored by The Writers' Union of Canada.

September 30, 2024 - Frances will be interviewed online for a Japanese Canadian book club in Winnipeg. Her novel REQUIEM will be discussed.

October 7/24 - Frances will be guest speaker for CFUW, the Ottawa club, to talk about storytelling in her life and work, and how her lifelong interest in stories shapes and defines her next novel. The title of her talk: OUR LIVES AS STORIES, THE STORIES OF OUR LIVES.”

Between October 16-20, 2024 - Frances will be appearing on stage in Wakefield, Quebec at one of her favourite literary festivals:  Wakefield Writers Festival ​des écrivains La Pêche. This year's festival will have the theme: "Finding Joy in Challenging Times" Check out the website for details as they become available.

2022

PAST EVENTS

Frances was in Calgary in the fall 2022 (early November) to celebrate the launch of the 75th Anniversary edition of W.O. Mitchell’s Who Has Seen the Wind, the Kurelek edition, for which Frances wrote the Foreword. This edition was published by FreeHand Books.

Frances was a guest at the Banff Centre end of May, to address the Book Discussion Group, the longest-running conference (62 years) at the Banff Centre. Her book The Company We Keep was discussed, and Frances gave a talk about writing.

The Company We Keep was published in August 2020, and sparked a series of readings and discussions across Canada.
